About Cumnock Connections
In conjunction with and funded by Cumnock History Group.
http://cumnockhistorygroup.org/ full of fabulous photos and lots of information.

The aim is to have a tree to show how all our Cumnock ancestors may link together.

The contributors to the tree are members or friends of CHG with a large contribution from Kay McMeekin (KayM) chair of Cumnock History Group and webmaster, and the late Bobby Grierson and the late John Robertson. Also Yvonne Saunderson, Marlyn Melvin, Roberta McGee, Robert Stevenson amongst many others.

If this tree has helped your research you might consider making a small donation to Cumnock History Group to help with the expense of buying certificates. This can be done via Paypal Donate here

Headstones in Cumnock Old Cemetery were photographed in 2014 by members of Cumnock History Group. The new cemetery was photographed in 2020 by George McMillan who went on to document many other local cemeteries. The large files are available free of charge. HERE

Note that there are two neighbouring parishes: Old Cumnock (with the town now known simply as Cumnock ) and New Cumnock to the south with the town of New Cumnock.

No living people will be entered since this is a public tree, but otherwise, anyone who was in Cumnock or whose ancestors or descendants were in Cumnock may be entered. Inevitably the area covered is much wider than Cumnock. Our ancestors moved around a lot!

Every effort has been made to verify the information on this tree using mainly scotlandspeople and other sites but you should verify for yourself using certificates to be sure. If you think there is a mistake, please get in touch and I will double check and sort.

Sources I use most frequently are from ancestry.com, findmypast.com, BMDs and censuses from scotlandspeople.gov.uk and familysearch.org/ Also Memorial Inscriptions from graveyards, most of which are not online. Also wills, army service records, newspapers, the British Newspaper Archive. Much information comes from other people.

Do not assume this tree will always be here (although it is backed up!), so make your own tree.

If you would like to add your family please contact me, via the link above.

NEW blog in 2016 http://chgscottishfamilyhistory.blogspot.co.uk with tips on finding your Scottish ancestors.

For given names, I use standard spelling e.g. Elizabeth even though the record says Elisabeth, Catherine for Catharine and Katherine

This way they will be easier to find when searching.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
